Workshop on Self-X in Engineering took place at the KI 2010

24.09.2010

The 33rd Annual German Conference on Artificial Intelligence (KI 2010) was took part from September 21st  to 24th  at the Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe.

A Workshop on "Self-X in engineering" was organized on this year’s conference. The Workshop was organised by Jörg Donoth (chair in Product Engineering), Dr. Bernd Kleinjohann and Philipp Adelt (both C-LAB).

The workshop was directed to leading experts from science and industry that use methods of artificial intelligence to obtain so-called self-x-properties in engineering applications. Self-x-properties are all capabilities that allow a system to operate autonomously at runtime, for example self-coordination or self-optimization.

The range of the lectures reached from approaches to self-authentication by gentelligent components over the automatic identification of model parameters up to collaborative product development by self-optimized organisation unities. Thus gentelligent components are for example able to store and transmit information like geometric descriptions and material information and concurrently process and store further information as interactions, accelerations and temperatures during runtime.

The proceedings to the workshop on the KI 2010 contains detailed contributions to all sessions and reflects the current state of the art. It can be purchased in the book trade:
