The collaborative research centre (CRC) project requires intensive organization, coordination and administration. The subproject K is planned to perform these tasks as a central service for other subprojects.
The area organisation is responsible for the preparation, execution and follow-up work of internal and external events. A report colloquium is planned two times a year. The colloquium will provide researchers a platform to present and discuss their research results. Workshops about CRC-relevant topics are also to be presented for knowledge exchange between internal and external scientists. Additionally, the “Aufgabekomplex” organization is in charge of public relations including PR activities such as Internet positioning. Another primary responsibility of this organization is the management of applications for continued funding.
Project coordination includes control and communication among subprojects as well as cooperation with DFG and the Paderborn University. A coordination committee has already been established for this purpose. The committee is comprised of one representative from each project and the assistant chair leads this committee. Additionally, diverse ad-hoc interest groups have been formed to deal with important cross-subproject topics. For example, “self optimization” is one of the interest group topics.
The administration includes central resource management. It controls the acquisition, inventory and report process for materials; and equipment funding for subprojects. The university administration and the DFG are involved in the controlling. Furthermore, the personnel resources are administered in the subproject K.
These tasks are fulfilled by a CRC secretary as well as a central coordinator as managing director.
